CHINA
$8.1 million
Source: $3 million from State Energy HK on March 1, 2017, $5.1 million from CEFC China Energy on Aug. 4-8, 2017 Joe Biden’s role: State Energy HK is affiliated with Chinese state-linked CEFC China Energy, which partnered with First Son Hunter Biden and First Brother James Biden. “Big guy” Joe Biden was supposed to get a 10% cut of the venture.
In a July 2017 WhatsApp message, Hunter threatened a Chinese associate with his dad’s wrath if the deal was aborted. Within 10 days, CEFC transferred $100,000 and then $5 million to Biden-linked accounts, according to a 2020 report by Senate committees. The CEFC relationship is believed to have started in 2015 when Joe Biden was still VP.
Who got the money: The $3 million from State Energy HK was divided three ways, with Hunter Biden, James Biden and Beau Biden’s widow Hallie Biden receiving a combined $1,065,692. The remainder went to Hunter’s partners Rob Walker and James Gilliar.
The latter $5.1 million passed mostly into Hunter’s own entity Owasco, according to the 2020 Senate report, and hasn’t yet been documented in bank records obtained by the House. Hunter also received a 3.16-carat diamond from CEFC founder Ye Jianming in 2017.
UKRAINE $6.5 million

Holdings from 2014-2019
Joe Biden’s role: Joe Biden visited Ukraine six times as vice president, five of them after Hunter joined Burisma’s board in April 2014. He publicly claimed credit for using $1 billion in US aid to force the March 2016 firing of Ukraine’s prosecutorgeneral Viktor Shokin, who in February 2016 seized Burisma owner Mykola Zlochevsky’s assets in a corruption probe. Joe Biden also met Burisma officials at dinners and participated in a phone call with them, according to Devon Archer.
Who got the money: Bank records document $3.3 million transferred from Burisma to Hunter Biden and Devon Archer from April 2014 to October 2015. IRS whistleblowers testified that Hunter and Archer earned $6.5 million in total from Burisma through 2019, with Hunter’s compensations slashed after his dad left office in 2017.
RUSSIA
$3.5 million
Source: Former first lady of Moscow Yelena Baturina on Feb. 14, 2014 Joe Biden’s role: Then-Vice President Biden allegedly met Baturina at a DC restaurant in spring 2014 and April 2015, while Hunter Biden and Archer were helping her invest in US real estate. The Obama-Biden administration and Biden-Harris administrations have exempted Baturina from sanctions against Russia’s business elite over the 2014 Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine last year.
Who got the money: On March 11, 2014, $750,000 was transferred to Archer. The rest was transferred to a joint account held by Archer and Hunter Biden. It’s unclear from the newly released bank records if the Biden family received any of the funds, though the joint account covered personal expenses and did at points transfer money to a Hunter Biden account.
ROMANIA $3.1 million
Source: Gabriel Popoviciu from November 2015 to May 2017 Joe Biden’s role: Unclear. Hunter referred Popoviciu to former FBI Director Louis Freeh to challenge a corruption case against him. Freeh called Hunter Biden in July 2015 just two hours before Hunter was scheduled to meet with his dad, according to abandoned laptop records.
Hunter flew to Romania on Nov. 15, 2016, for a two-day trip to represent Popoviciu before the National Anticorruption Directorate, but Popoviciu was convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison.
Who got the money: About $3 million was transferred by Popoviciu to Hunter Biden’s partner Rob Walker. About a third — $1,038,627.08 — was then transferred to Hunter and his brother’s widow Hallie, according to bank records. Freeh separately gave $100,000 in April 2016 to a trust for two of President Biden’s grandchildren, according to laptop emails.

Who got the money: One day after receiving the money, Hunter Biden transferred the exact amount to a New Jersey dealership, according to bank records.
He bought a Fisker sports car but later traded in the plug-in hybrid for a Porsche.
