Yankees will run(line) it up

By THOMAS CASALE actionnetwork.com Thomas Casale handicaps MLB for Action Network.

A weekend series between the Yankees and Red Sox resumes on Saturday. On the mound for the Bombers will be Domingo German (3-3, 3.69 ERA) with pitching-starved Boston turning to Tanner Houck (3-5, 5.46 ERA).

Take away one poor outing against the Mariners and German has been rolling over the past month. In his other five starts, German has allowed just six runs over 282/₃ innings. German pitched well in two starts against the Red Sox last season, giving up eight hits and four runs in 11 innings.

Houck has been brutal recently, allowing four runs or more in four of his last six starts. He has been particularly bad in his two most recent outings when he gave up eight runs over nine innings. Boston has lost Houck’s last five starts by a combined score of 28-7.

The Yankees had gone 8-2 in the previous 10 meetings with the Red Sox entering Friday. Look for that dominance to continue, as Boston has lost five of Houck’s last seven starts by the runline.

THE PLAY: Yankees runline (-1.5 runs).
