Israel’s Judicial Overhaul

THE ISSUE: President Biden’s criticism of Israel’s plan to give the Knesset greater control over the Supreme Court.

President Biden and his team of foreign-policy specialists are criticizing Israel for its now-postponed judicial reforms (“Bibi tells Biden to butt out,” March 30).

While compromise would be preferable to many in Israel, the government is within its rights, being democratically elected, to legislate change of the judicial system.

Biden should understand this, as he gave serious consideration to a much more radical overhaul of the Supreme Court through adding Supreme Court justices, all because the court tilted right. Beyond treating Israel as a vassal state, the hypocrisy is appalling. Yakov Moshe

Brooklyn Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the United States should mind its own business when it comes to Israeli affairs.

I, for one, think that is a great idea. Think of the billions in US aid the country will save.
