Some like it haute on 57th

MARILYN Monroe (inset) and playwright Arthur Miller’s former home near Sutton Place has quietly hit the market for $3.05 million, down from its $3.75 million asking price in May. The three-bedroom condo is at 444 E. 57th St., a 14-story building that dates to 1927. Late fashion designer Bill Blass once owned a building penthouse and held glam parties on his 3,000-square-foot terrace there. Other famous residents included Sweden’s Princess Madeleine. This home is reportedly where Miller wrote “The Misfits,” which was Monroe’s last film. At 2,190 square feet, the prewar home comes with two woodburning fireplaces and partial East River views. The residence opens to a large foyer that leads to a living room with a fireplace, 9-foot ceilings and large windows. The dining room accommodates 10 people. The building was designed by architect Lafayette A. Goldstone nearly a century ago and features a limestone base along with a vaulted marble lobby. Harriet Maisel of Brown Harris Stevens has the listing.
