Pinstripe Bowl inks new sponsor

— Greg Joyce

The Pinstripe Bowl has a new partner.

The annual college football bowl game at Yankee Stadium will now be known as the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl, the Yankees announced on Tuesday.

The 2022 game, pitting a member of the Big Ten against an ACC team, will be held on Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. It will mark the 12th edition of the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium.

Maryland crushed Virginia Tech, 54-10 in the 2021 Pinstripe Bowl. It has been played every year since 2010, with the exception of 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bowl game — the first in New York City since Yankee Stadium hosted the Dec. 15, 1962 Gotham Bowl between Nebraska and Miami — originally pitted a team from the Big East, or Notre Dame, against a team from the Big 12.
