Rodon will tame Snakes

By C JACKSON COWART actionnetwork.com

Giants left-hander Carlos Rodon is making a compelling case to get paid this winter amid one of the best seasons of his career. His only Kryptonite? Those pesky Diamondbacks, who have tripped him up twice already and are looking for the trifecta on Wednesday.

That won’t be easy given how Rodon is pitching as of late. Since the start of June, he’s held opposing lineups to two or fewer runs in 11 of 14 starts. Two of those three outliers curiously came against the Diamondbacks, who own one of the 10 worst lineups in baseball even when top hitter Ketel Marte (hamstring) is fully healthy.

Both of those strong efforts against Rodon came in Arizona, and the latter was courtesy of two home runs — one of just two multi-HR games that Rodon has allowed this year.

Don’t expect an encore at pitcherfriendly Oracle Park, where Rodon sports a filthy 1.89 ERA and has struck out nearly 35% of the batters he’s faced — including 10 the last time he faced the D’backs. He’ll get the better of them this time.

THE PLAY: Diamondbacks team total Under 2.5 runs (-105 BetMGM).
