Too ‘immature’ for abortion?

A pregnant 16-year-old Florida girl was denied an abortion after a judge ruled she was too immature to decide if she should terminate her pregnancy.

The teen — referred to only as Jane Doe 22-B — had not established “that she was sufficiently mature to decide whether to terminate her pregnancy,” according to a court ruling from Judge Jennifer J. Frydrychowicz.

The ruling was affirmed by Florida’s 1st District Court of Appeals in Escambia County on Monday. An order from an appeals court possibly could force the teen to become a mother.
