Psych eval for ‘stabber’

Priscilla DeGregory

The suspect charged in a series of stabbings that left a homeless man dead and two others wounded will undergo a mentalhealth exam to see if he’s fit to stand trial, a judge ruled Tuesday.

The exam was ordered by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Diane Kiesel at the request of defense attorneys following Trevon Murphy’s indictment on charges of murder, attempted murder and assault, prosecutors said.

Murphy, 40, is accused of stabbing three homeless people, one fatally, during a week-long spree last month in which he allegedly shoved a knife into the victims’ stomachs as they slept.

Murphy, who was arrested July 15, has not entered a plea.
