Billions on table in divorce

BILLIONAIRE John Paulson’s divorce has turned nasty after his wife Jenny turned down a whopping settlement offer thought to be worth billions.

Page Six exclusively revealed last September that the hedge funder is getting a divorce after 21 years of marriage. Paulson is thought to be worth $4 billion, and there’s no prenup, according to sources.

Now, Jenny has ended all private settlement talks and has chosen to go back to court to fight for more money and marital property. This sets the stage for an epic battle over his billions and their property holdings, including estates in Southampton and Aspen, Colo., as well as a 28,000-square-foot Manhattan pad.

Paulson — who said he was committed to settling amicably — exclusively told us, “I have been trying to meet in person with Jenny and her lawyers to discuss a settlement for the last eight months. She has rejected all offers of arbitration or mediation.”

Bill Zabel, Paulson’s lawyer, added, “People would have been astounded by the generosity of Mr. Paulson’s offer, which would have given Mrs. Paulson far more than what is required by law. Her greed has created an insurmountable obstacle to settlement.”

Making the situation even more sour, Jenny claims she found out about the divorce on Page

Six, plus the fact her 66-year-old husband is dating 34-year-old dietitian Alina de Almeida.

The divorce case has now been re-filed in Suffolk County.

Meanwhile, Jenny’s attorney Robert S. Cohen said they had been in personal negotiations for six months to try to reach a settlement, “but he was offering her an allowance that he would control. A husband who has made a fortune in the marriage don’t give their wives allowances.”

Paulson made $20 billion betting against the housing market before the 2008 crash. Cohen added, “He’s trying to put pressure on her to accomplish a settlement, and it is just wrong.”
