Airbnb’s CEO and co-founder said Tuesday he’ll work remotely and move periodically from city to city, staying at Airbnbs.
“Starting today, I’m living on Airbnb,” Brian Chesky tweeted. “I’ll be staying in a different town or city every couple of weeks.”
Chesky, of San Francisco, whose net worth is estimated by Forbes to be around $12.5 billion, said he plans to decamp to Atlanta this week.
Chesky, 40, said he’s doing it because “it’ll be fun, but more importantly it will help us improve the experience for people who can now live anywhere.”
Citing company data showing a sharp increase in the number of longterm rentals since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, he predicted that some people will “give up their leases and become digital nomads.”
