Hair whiz sues Saks over salon

WHAT’S the return policy on a flagship hair salon? Saks is being sued by Joel Warren, co-founder of celeb fave Warren Tricomi, who alleges things got hairy when the department store reneged on an agreement to open his state-of-the-art Salon Project flagship inside the Fifth Avenue store. He alleges in court papers filed Tuesday that his Saks deal got short shrift when the department store pivoted to turn part of his planned space into a new co-working venture. The papers claim that Saks’ “high-profile decision to lease prime space to WeWork” last year is “in clear violation of its existing contractual obligations” to Warren. Saks made the salon pact with Warren in 2017, and created SaksWorks in 2021 to convert some of its retail space to office space. Warren’s suit is seeking $75 million. It’s not the first time a hair salon and Saks have tangled: Saks filed a breach of contract lawsuit against previous partner John Barrett, who was Hillary Clinton’s hairdresser. It was subsequently settled. Warren’s being repped in the case by Robert Hantman. Saks didn’t comment.
