CONGO

A new drug made from the deposits of catalytic converters has taken over the streets of Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Dubbed “bombe,” the brown powder is snorted like cocaine or mixed with tobacco in cigarettes. Addicts pay the equivalent of a dollar for a hit, which does not trigger hallucinations, but renders them motionless and “void,” as one user described it.
