Failing Nursing-Home Vics: DOJ’s Cuomo Probe Drop

THE ISSUE: The DOJ’s decision not to pursue a civilrights probe into Gov. Cuomo’s nursing-home order.

The decision to drop a probe into the nursinghome deaths that occurred under Gov. Cuomo’s direction is another example of the twotiered judicial system in this country that is tearing our society apart (“Feds drop Cuomo probe,” July 24).

It is painfully apparent that Democrats consistently get a pass when their policies fail because of incompetence, but Republicans become the targets of judicial scrutiny for made-up political crimes.

In this case, the most vulnerable Americans were failed. Citizens who had no control over their own liberty or housing choice were herded into facilities where they were exposed to COVID under the direction of an incompetent governor who had little regard for their welfare, only to die a lonely and painful death.

Our judicial system must be fixed fast, and those who govern us in both parties must be held accountable for their actions when incompetence or malfeasance are involved. William Millward

Hobart

If we ever doubted the Department of Justice’s left-wing bias, this surely proves it.

Cuomo and all who support him in the state Legislature must be voted out. I’m outraged. Peter Liman Glen Rock, NJ

It’s disgusting and appalling that the feds are dropping the probe into Cuomo’s order that nursing homes must admit those who have COVID.

This is a big slap in the face to all the people who lost their loved ones in those nursing homes. A senior aide to Cuomo was told not to reveal the correct number of dead. That sounds like a lie, another Democratic trait.

Cuomo is still facing a probe that involves the cover-up of the number of deaths; however, I wouldn’t hold my breath. He will skate on that, too. And let’s not forget the sexual-harassment allegations against him.

It’s time for this governor to step down. He wants to run for a fourth term. Wake up, New Yorkers. Rob Johann

Queens

This is outrageous. How can the DOJ not probe into the civilrights violations of those in nursing homes in New York and other states?

It’s political, to say the least. Cuomo needs to be taken down, as do other governors who made mistakes that killed the elderly.

Cuomo made mistakes, and worse, he is arrogant about not only this but his sexual-harassment issues. Bob Robustelli

Stamford, Conn.

It’s no surprise to me that Cuomo will get to walk after covering up nursing-home deaths.

They spit in the eyes of those who lost loved ones once again.

The Democrats are in charge, and they do not eat their own. The maxim “Let your conscience be your guide” does not apply to them. It’s a disgrace.

So the DOJ dropped the probe on Cuomo’s civilrights violation of nursing-home residents. I’m not surprised by this.

And I will not be surprised when he gets elected next year, in the same way that I will be surprised if anything at all happens to Hunter Biden. We are living in one heck of a messed-up world. Rick Millman

Key West, Fla.

The DOJ is dropping a civil-rights probe of Cuomo. Does anyone do their job anymore in Democrat-occupied DC?

This is another assault on America’s laws and values. Having no accountability and total control of our government, these sleazy Democrats trash our laws and customs, which Americans hold near and dear.

Aren’t the laws of the land supposed to be enforced no matter who is in power? They pick and choose which laws they might enforce and which they ignore or pretend to enforce. Mike Pedano

South Farmingdale

President Biden, by refusing to instruct his DOJ to investigate whether the civil rights of 15,000 nursing-home residents were violated, has essentially ruled that nursinghome residents do not have the right to live. Jack Kaufman

Naples, Fla.
