Peter Piper picks peppers off BQE
David Meyer
It was bell on wheels on the BrooklynQueens Expressway Monday morning after a veggie truck overturned and jettisoned thousands of orange and yellow peppers on the roadway.
The truck toppled over a median at around 7:14 a.m. — with its perishables peppering the roadway at Exit 30, which feeds into Brooklyn’s Flushing Avenue, photos of the scattered produce showed.
Authorities blocked off a lane of eastbound traffic to clean up the mess — which was still there more than three hours after the initial spill, according to New York’s 511 traffic-reporting system.
There were no reported injuries associated with the crash.
