An off-duty NYPD officer was assaulted by a group of men with a bat on a Bronx street corner Monday, police and sources said.

The 33-year-old victim was approached by six suspects and attacked at about 11:40 a.m. at the corner of Bryant and Lafayette avenues in the Hunts Point neighborhood, police said.

At least one of the suspects whacked the officer with a bat as others used what are believed to have been broomsticks, according to police sources.

It was not immediately clear what motivated the assault.

The assailants fled and no arrests had been made by Monday night.
