A 27-year-old female tourist was randomly attacked by a bottlewielding rider aboard a subway train in Manhattan on Monday night, sources said.

The woman was alone on a northbound E train when, without provocation, a man socked her in the face near the Fifth Avenue/53rd Street station at about 7 p.m., according to police sources. He then whacked her in the head with a glass bottle.

He fled the train, but it was unclear if he escaped at the next station.

The victim, who is visiting from Columbia, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
