INSIDE THE MATCHUPS

YANKEES: In his last outing, a 6-3 win over the Astros on Wednesday, Montgomery matched his longest outing of the season by throwing six innings. The lefty gave up eight hits and three runs while striking out four and walking none. Montgomery will be looking for his first win since his season debut on April 5.

RAYS: Patino was held back so he could face the Yankees. The righty is likely only built up to pitch three or four innings, but has allowed four base runners and struck out 10 in 7 ²/₃ innings over three outings this season.
