Mulaney and wife divorce

COMEDIAN John Mulaney and his wife of six years, Anna Marie Tendler, are divorcing following his battle with addiction and stint in rehab, Page Six has exclusively learned.

Sources tell us that Mulaney, who checked himself into rehab after struggling with alcohol and drug abuse, asked for a divorce from Tendler three months ago.

A spokesman for Mulaney confirmed the divorce to Page Six, adding, “John will not have any further comment as he continues to focus on his recovery and getting back to work.” Tendler — an artist who’s getting her master’s in costume studies at NYU — added through her spokesperson, “I am heartbroken that John has decided to end our marriage. I wish him support and success as he continues his recovery.”

In December, the “Big Mouth” star, who had long been sober prior to a relapse, entered a rehab facility in Pennsylvania for 60 days for treatment for cocaine and alcohol addiction. His decision was met with a wave of support from fans and fellow comedians. But some noticed that around the same time, Tendler, 35, went silent on social media. Her since-reactivated Instagram now focuses solely on her art.

In February, Mulaney, 38, left the facility and entered outpatient care. “John has completed 60 days in rehab, and now he’s in outpatient sober care. He is doing well, although he is still not ready to return to work,” a source told Page Six at the time. (In November, he was hired as a writer for Seth Meyers’ late night show.)

Now, Mulaney has his first live dates since getting clean. The comedian began his fiveday residency at Manhattan’s City Winery on Monday. All shows have sold out.

He and Tendler — whom he has often fondly referenced in his stand-up shows — met in the late 2000s during a trip to Martha’s Vineyard. They married in Boiceville, NY, in July 2014, when he shared on Instagram: “On a beautiful and perfect day, I married a beautiful and perfect woman. I wish I could live it over and over again.”
